The worshippers are demanding stronger action on insecurity in the state.
Christians across Plateau State joined millions of believers worldwide to commemorate Easter on Sunday, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, a central tenet of the Christian faith that symbolizes hope, renewal, and triumph over death.
The atmosphere at ECWA Bishara One in Jos was charged with spiritual joy and deep reflection as worshippers gathered to mark the occasion.
Esther Adamu, a worshipper at the church, described the day as profoundly significant.
“The importance of this day is the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, because without His death and resurrection, we would not be alive today. And now, we are happy because of His resurrection,” she said.
Elder Daniel Titus, a senior member of the church, highlighted the deeper meaning of the season.
He emphasized that Easter represents love, forgiveness, and empathy among believers.
Another worshipper, Sharon Daniel, echoed the celebratory mood while stressing the practical implications of the faith.
She described Easter as the celebration of Christ’s sacrifice and His ultimate victory over death. Daniel urged fellow Christians to live in peace and serve as a light to others. She also called on the government and security agencies to be more proactive in tackling insecurity in the state.
Pastor Dr. Yakubu Samuel Nzee provided a theological perspective on the Easter message, referencing John 3:16 to underscore God’s love for humanity.
Amid the joyful celebrations, both Elder Daniel Titus and Pastor Yakubu Samuel Nzee used the platform to appeal to the government to intensify efforts in addressing the persistent insecurity plaguing Plateau State.
As Christians across the region and beyond rejoice in the message of resurrection and hope, the calls for peace and improved security have underscored the urgent need for leaders to translate the spirit of renewal and victory into concrete actions that will foster a safer and more peaceful society.
