PDP accuses Bola Tinubu of failing to tackle Nigeria’s worsening security crisis amid rising terrorism...
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised President Bola Tinubu over what it described as the administration’s failure to address Nigeria’s worsening security crisis.
The party accused government officials of neglecting the situation, alleging that they were “wining, dining, and dancing in the blood of Nigerians in a faraway land” while violent attacks persist across the country.
CBI News reports that the criticism follows the release of the 2026 Global Terrorism Index, which ranked Nigeria as the fourth most terrorism-affected country in the world.
According to the report, Nigeria and four other countries account for nearly 70 percent of global terrorism-related deaths.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, the PDP said the findings reflect the reality Nigerians are already facing.
“While this report is not surprising to Nigerians, it is most painful that people who promised and were elected and appointed to secure our country are wining, dining, and dancing in a faraway land, whilst terrorists are killing and kidnapping citizens rampantly,” the statement read.
The party further alleged that insecurity has become deeply entrenched under the current administration, claiming it has taken on an economic dimension.
“Under President Tinubu’s watch, insecurity has not just become very lucrative, it has attained a trillion-naira economy status,” the PDP said.
Calling for urgent action, the opposition party urged the president and security leadership to adopt a more proactive and inclusive approach to tackling terrorism and related crimes.
“It needs reminding that the primary duty of every government is the protection of lives and property, a task that this administration has consistently failed glaringly,” the statement added.
The PDP also expressed frustration over continued attacks, noting that “Nigerians are tired of being killed for no reason.”
