Wike says Rivers residents benefiting from the decision to support Tinubu in the 2023 election....
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike on Saturday said that Rivers State is fully mobilised to support President Bola Tinubu’s reelection bid in 2027.
Wike made the remarks while inaugurating the Rivers Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ Secretariat in Port Harcourt.
He said the headquarters includes a situation room and office facilities to coordinate mobilisation efforts.
“Rivers is totally for Tinubu,” Wike said, adding that “unity is strength” and that the structure would strengthen grassroots support across the state.
“I have said before that Rivers is a no-go area, and I want to say again that this state is totally for Tinubu,” he said, noting that coordinators had been established across all 23 local government areas.
Wike described the inauguration of the secretariat and operational vehicles as the first of its kind in the South-South region, adding that the commitment to Tinubu’s second-term bid was genuine.
He commended the coordinator of the Rivers Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Desmond Akawor, for mobilising support across the state.
According to Wike, the group has demonstrated the capacity to rally the electorate without relying on state government resources, citing the involvement of lawmakers, council chairmen and party officials from both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He also recalled that Rivers voters supported Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election, saying residents were already benefiting from that decision.
“When Mr President shows interest that he will run for a second term in 2027, we have no choice but to continue to support him,” Wike said.
He directed Akawor to begin preparations for the inauguration of ward and unit coordinators to expand mobilisation at the grassroots level.
Earlier, Akawor commended Wike’s leadership of the Rivers Renewed Hope Ambassadors and said notable individuals had been appointed to lead the group across the state’s 23 local government areas.
