Wike-led PDP faction rejects reports of meeting with ADC, calling it unsanctioned.
A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) associated with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has directed its members to disregard reports of a meeting between another PDP group and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
CBI News reports that through its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, the faction said the gathering involving the Taminu Turaki-led group was not sanctioned by the party.
He added that the PDP had not engaged in any formal discussions with the ADC or its officials.
“Those who attended the meeting did so independently and should not be regarded as representing the PDP,” Mohammed said, stressing that the claims do not reflect the party’s official position.
The Wike-linked faction said it remains focused on internal preparations, particularly the forthcoming party primaries, and promised to share details about the timetable and guidelines at the appropriate time.
The Turaki-led group had recently visited the ADC faction associated with former Senate President David Mark, in what was described as a show of support ahead of the 2027 elections.
The two-hour discussion reportedly covered national issues and potential cooperation between the parties.
Prominent figures present at the meeting included former Minister of Information Jerry Gana, former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, and former governors Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Aminu Tambuwal, and Rotimi Amaechi.
Also in attendance were ADC National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola and former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami, among other senior figures involved in the talks.
