Why I Rejected Tinubu’s Appointment Offer - Fayose

Fayose reveals he rejected a political appointment offer from President Tinubu, choosing to focus on his private life.

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has explained that his decision to focus on his personal life after years in public service is why he turned down an appointment offer from President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain said Tinubu once asked what position he would like, but he declined the offer.

“Have you seen me taking appointment from the APC? Asiwaju asked me, ‘What would we give you?’ I said, ‘Nothing, sir.’ At 65, I’d rather be at home, being more responsible, doing other things that I need to do. I’ve served well two-time governor. I’ve done well. Tomorrow will hold itself,” Fayose said.

CBI News reports that he explained that, despite maintaining a cordial relationship with the president, it does not mean he has aligned politically with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Fayose also vowed never to defect to the ruling party, saying his support for Tinubu is based on respect and personal conviction, not party affiliation.

His statement comes amid a wave of defections from the PDP to the APC, involving several governors and lawmakers across the country.
