Opinions are divided among Nigerians on when is the right time for women to request financial help from men in relationships.
This has become necessary following the growing trend of women complaining about men not willing to part with money.

While trader Favour Isaac, says asking men should depend on timing, Stephen Bolaji, an unemployed graduate, tells women not to depend on men financially.

Tolu Taiwo, a trader said both genders should share responsibility. “It’s not only women; men too. If I meet a lady today and she asks for money, I can’t give because I worked for it,” she said.
Mayowa Olaleye, a teacher advised women to add value to themselves before expecting support.
"A woman should be of purpose,” she said. “Let help come from the man’s willingness, not because you met last week and are already asking for money.” Olaleye concluded.
