No deals, no dialogue. Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal says his government will never sit at the table with bandits — even as grief grips Bungudu.

In a defiant stand against insecurity, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has doubled down on his no-negotiation policy with bandits.

The Governor made his position crystal clear on Thursday when he paid a condolence visit to Bungudu Local Government Area, following a recent bandit attack that left families shattered.

According to a statement by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, Governor Lawal first stopped at the palace of the Emir of Bungudu, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, to commiserate with the traditional ruler and the entire community.

Speaking there, Lawal assured residents that his administration is throwing everything it has at restoring peace and securing lives across Zamfara. He admitted the security challenge is a sensitive one that requires patience and perseverance, but insisted the government will not yield to criminal groups.

He also had words of comfort for families of those injured and abducted, promising continued support and intensified efforts to bring the victims home safely, while praying for the repose of those who lost their lives.

In his response, the Emir of Bungudu, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, lauded the Governor’s efforts and expressed optimism that banditry would soon be a thing of the past.

Governor Lawal later visited the family of the late Alhaji Bello Umar Bungudu and other affected families to personally offer his condolences.
