Governor Ademola Adeleke says Osun cannot go back to the days when civil servants had to beg to feed their families.

In a chatty but pointed message to Osun residents, Governor Ademola Adeleke has made it clear — he doesn't want the state going back to what he calls the dark days of half salaries.

The governor, who is contesting the August 15 governorship election under the Accord Party, took to X on Thursday to call on eligible voters to reject the All-Progressives Congress at the polls.

According to cbinews.tv, Adeleke accused the APC of weaponising poverty when it was in power, alleging that workers were left struggling to survive.

In his post, he wrote:

“We will not allow APC to take Osun back to the days when civil servants had to beg their neighbours for food.

I call on the good people of Osun State to brace up for just a few more days. Those who once weaponised poverty by paying workers half salaries, leaving civil servants to struggle to feed their families, and denying our people access to basic necessities are desperate to return to inflict more pain.

We must never go back to those dark days.”

He went on to urge voters to turn out massively on August 15, saying it is a chance to send a loud message that Osun has chosen progress and compassion over regression.

In a follow-up post, the governor defended his own record, insisting that workers' welfare has been his top priority since taking office and describing the APC's attitude to civil servants as well-known in the state.

He added that the recent freezing of state accounts would only make the people more determined to protect what he calls the mandate of progress, adding: “The choice is clear: progress over regression, good governance over neglect. Accord over APC.”

The Osun governorship election holds on August 15, with Adeleke seeking another term, this time on the platform of the Accord Party.
