You couldn't write it! Morocco had one foot in the WAFCON 2026 final, missed a 90th-minute penalty, and then collapsed in the shootout.
What a night of drama!
In a proper nail-biter, Algeria has silenced the home crowd and beaten host Morocco 3-2 on penalties after a pulsating 1-1 draw in normal time, according to cbinews.tv.
It all started so well for Morocco. The Atlas Lions came flying out the blocks, grabbed a first-half lead and went into the break looking totally in control. The home fans were already dreaming of the final.
But Algeria clearly had other ideas.
They came out after the restart with real fire in their bellies, camped in Morocco's half for over 10 minutes and finally got their reward with a well-deserved equaliser.
Just when you thought it was heading for extra-time drama, Morocco were handed a golden chance. A penalty in the 90th minute to win it! But they fluffed their lines from the spot and Algeria lived to fight another day.
And from 12 yards? Cool as you like. The Algerians held their nerve to edge it 3-2 in the shootout and seal a stunning victory over the tournament hosts.
The result means Algeria walk away with the Bronze medal.
Next up, the big one - Cameroon take on Malawi in Sunday's final.
