Heading to the States? The US Mission just dropped a firm but friendly reminder for Nigerians — overstay your welcome and you could be waving goodbye to future trips.
The US Mission in Nigeria is giving travellers a heads-up: stick to your visa rules, or it could come back to bite you later, reports cbinews.tv.
In a post on its official X handle Monday, the Mission called on students, workers and visitors to play by the book when it comes to US immigration laws. Basically — respect your visa terms, your stay duration, and keep those documents up to date.
“Staying compliant with US immigration laws isn’t just the right thing to do – it protects your future and keeps opportunities open for Nigerian travellers,” the Mission said.
The message was pretty clear: whether you’re off to study, work, or just visiting Disneyland, don’t push your luck. Follow the rules, stay only as long as you’re authorised, and double-check that your paperwork is still valid.
“Make choices that safeguard your dreams,” the Mission added. And they had a point — when travellers respect the process, it builds trust in the system. Everybody wins.
“When you respect the process, everyone wins,” the statement concluded.
