US Bans Canadian Alcohol Dairy and Motorbikes as Trade Row Grows

The US will ban a range of Canadian products from 29 September after President Donald Trump signed executive orders on Tuesday, reports cbinews.tv. The list includes alcoholic spirits, some dairy goods and motorbikes.
The White House claims Canada is discriminating against US firms. Canada says the move is unjustified.
Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc said Ottawa will protect workers and families, while Prime Minister Mark Carney warned that moving away from the US will come at a cost.
This is the latest strike in a months-long row. Last month the US put 50 percent tariffs on around 20 billion dollars of Canadian goods. Canada hit back with dollar-for-dollar tariffs on US steel, clothing and furniture.
According to UN data, Canada sent 687 million dollars of spirits, 269 million dollars of dairy and 90 million dollars of motorbikes to the US in 2025. Analysts say the ban covers just 0.25 percent of exports but signals intent to inflict pain.
Two thirds of Canadian exports normally go to the US. Both sides say they want a deal,l but no talks are scheduled.
