UK Murder: Accused Admits Gun Charge in South Africa

A man accused of murdering his wife and two daughters in Bedford has admitted illegal gun possession in South Africa, cbinews.tv reports.
Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, 45, also known as Mark Tshuma, pleaded guilty in Johannesburg after police said he bought a gun and ammunition there after leaving the UK.
His wife Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, 42, and daughters Natalie, 15, and Nala, five, were found with fatal head injuries at their home in Carnoustie Drive, Great Denham near Bedford on 7 July.
The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised three murder charges and an extradition hearing is due in South Africa on Thursday. Tshuma is a British citizen of Zimbabwean heritage and could be sentenced in South Africa for the firearms offences first.
The alarm was raised by a relative living overseas on 6 July who had not heard from the family. Bedfordshire Police carried out welfare checks before finding the bodies in the early hours of 7 July.
The force has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct which is examining prior contact with the family.
Office for National Statistics data shows around two women a week are killed by a partner or former partner in England and Wales, which is why such referrals are now common.
