Trump reacts to security scare, reflects on past assassination attempt.

President of the United States, Donald Trump, has shared his views on why he has faced repeated assassination threats, following a security scare in Washington.

CBI News reports that Trump spoke after a shooting incident disrupted a media event held during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton on April 25, 2026.

The incident caused panic at the gathering, forcing security operatives to intervene and bringing the event to an abrupt end.

Reacting after the situation was brought under control, Trump suggested that individuals who drive major change often become targets.

He linked the threats against him to decisions made during his time in office, noting that not everyone agrees with the direction of his policies.

The President also referenced a previous assassination attempt during a 2024 campaign rally, stating that such experiences have not altered his outlook.

He maintained that despite the risks associated with his position, he continues to live without fear.

“I’ve studied assassinations. I must tell you the most impactful people, the people that do the most… they’re the ones that they go after. I hate to say I’m honoured by that, but I’ve done a lot. We’ve changed this country, and there are a lot of people that are not happy about that,” he said.

Trump further stressed that he remains unfazed by the threats, describing his lifestyle as relatively normal despite security concerns.

“I lead a pretty normal life, considering, you know, it’s a dangerous life. To be honest, I’m not a basket case. A tremendous amount of love and coming together. I was ready to give the most inappropriate speech ever made,” he added.
