Global tensions remain on edge as Donald Trump casts doubt on Iran’s peace offer — warning that military action could still be back on the table.
CBI News notes that Donald Trump has expressed strong skepticism over a new peace proposal from Iran, saying he is unlikely to accept it because Tehran has not “paid a big enough price” for its actions over the past decades.
Although the United States and Israel suspended their joint bombing campaign against Iran four weeks ago, there has been little progress toward ending the conflict, which has already disrupted global energy supplies and shaken international markets.
According to a senior Iranian official, the proposed deal includes reopening shipping routes through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz and lifting the U.S. blockade on Iran, while postponing negotiations on Iran’s nuclear programme.
Reacting to the proposal, Trump said he would review the details but signaled deep reservations.
“I can’t imagine that it would be acceptable… they have not yet paid a big enough price,” he stated.
When asked about the possibility of renewed military strikes, Trump did not rule it out, suggesting that further action remains an option if Iran “misbehaves.”
The ongoing standoff has heightened fears of a broader global economic fallout, as the conflict continues to impact oil flows, investor confidence, and geopolitical stability.
With no clear resolution in sight, the world watches closely as tensions between Washington and Tehran threaten to escalate once again.
