Nigerian Army troops repel terrorist attack in Sokoto village after responding swiftly to intelligence reports...
Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully repelled an attack by suspected terrorists in Garin Hillo Village, located in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
CBI News reports that the incident was disclosed on Sunday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to report, the attack occurred in the early hours of April 17 when troops of the 8 Division, stationed at a Forward Operating Base in Gatawa, received intelligence about terrorist activities in the area.
“The troops quickly moved to the location, where they encountered the attackers and engaged them… The terrorists were eventually forced to retreat under pressure from the military,” Makama said.
Further details indicate that about 30 armed assailants stormed the village on foot, firing sporadically and causing panic among residents, many of whom fled for safety.
As a result of the attack, six civilians sustained injuries and were taken to the General Hospital in Sabon Birni for treatment.
Following the incident, troops have maintained a strong presence in the area, carrying out patrols to prevent further attacks and reassure residents.
