Eid-el-Kabir just got a heartfelt call for unity straight from Dodan Barracks — and President Tinubu didn’t hold back on what he thinks Nigeria needs right now.
President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to ditch the divisions and double down on love, tolerance and unity as Muslims across the country mark Eid-el-Kabir — cbinews.tv reports.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday right after Eid prayers at the Dodan Barracks prayer ground in Lagos, the President said he’s grateful to God for letting Nigerians see another Eid-el-Kabir. But he didn’t stop at the pleasantries.
“Well, we thank God, Almighty Allah, who has provided for us and kept us to see another year, another Eid-el-Kabir,” Tinubu said. “We thank Him for His mercy, and we must learn from the lessons of this season by showing love to one another. No discrimination, no ethnicity, no hatred.”
He called on everyone to be generous and compassionate in a way that actually mirrors Nigeria’s values and our shared humanity.
“We should share love and be generous to one another in a way that reflects the values of our country and our common humanity,” he added.
Tinubu also stressed that tolerance, obedience to Allah’s will, and respect for the rule of law aren’t optional — they’re what should guide society.
“It is essential that we remain tolerant, obedient to the will of Allah, and obedient to the rule of law, which must guide our society,” he said.
Touching on the meaning behind the festival, the President reminded Nigerians that Eid-el-Kabir points to the sacredness of human life.
“The sacrifice we are talking about, even in the beginning of life, where we take this from, a child was replaced with an animal. And that is what the value of life is all about,” Tinubu explained.
