Tinubu, First Lady conclude UK trip, back to Lagos for Sallah...
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Remi Tinubu have returned to Nigeria following a two-day official visit to the United Kingdom.
The President is expected to spend the Sallah holiday in Lagos before resuming official duties.
CBI News reports that Tinubu departed London on Thursday night after a state visit hosted by the British royal family.
He had earlier left Abuja on March 17 for the visit at the invitation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
The visit marked the first time in 37 years that a Nigerian leader undertook such a state engagement in the UK.
Tinubu also became the first Nigerian President to be hosted by the British monarch at Windsor Castle.
During the visit, Nigeria and the United Kingdom reaffirmed their longstanding ties, focusing on areas such as trade, investment, immigration, and cultural exchange.
Tinubu also held a bilateral meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Downing Street.
The meeting with Starmer culminated in the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding and agreements covering trade, investment, defence, and cultural cooperation.
Officials said the agreements are expected to deepen collaboration between both countries and boost economic growth.
While at Windsor Castle, Tinubu and the First Lady attended a state banquet hosted in their honour by the Royal Family.
They also viewed a special exhibition from the Royal Collection showcasing items related to Nigeria and participated in discussions with organisations focused on interfaith dialogue.
Following his return, the President is expected to observe the Sallah holiday in Lagos before returning to Abuja to continue official engagements.
