National assembly leaders meet President Tinubu at Presidential Villa...
The leadership of the National Assembly of Nigeria on Tuesday held a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.
Lawmakers arrived at the State House in the afternoon and were seen at the forecourt of the Presidential Villa around 3:30 p.m.
CBI News reports that those present at the meeting included Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.
Also in attendance was the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma.
The meeting, which took place at the Presidential Villa, lasted for about thirty minutes, ending around 4:00 p.m.
However, the lawmakers left the premises without addressing journalists who had gathered outside, leaving the details of the discussions undisclosed as of the time this report was filed.
Earlier on Tuesday, members of the Senate and the House of Representatives resumed plenary sessions after postponing their earlier resumption date.
The lawmakers had initially planned to reconvene on February 24 but delayed the sitting to allow committees complete budget defence sessions with ministries, departments and agencies.
The meeting between the president and the legislative leaders comes about a week after Tinubu hosted senators and members of the House of Representatives to separate Ramadan Iftar gatherings at the Presidential Villa.
