Tinubu appoints new Director-General of National Biosafety Management Agency.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Fatima Suleiman Zuntu as the new Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA).
CBI News reports that the appointment will run for an initial term of four years, in line with the provisions of the National Biosafety Management Agency Act of 2015.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, through its Head of Information and Public Relations, Chris Ugwuegbulam.
According to the statement, Dr. Zuntu brings extensive experience in public health and policy development, having been involved in programmes with significant impact across Nigeria’s health sector and public service delivery.
It added that her professional background positions her well to handle the responsibilities of the agency.
President Tinubu urged her to apply her expertise in advancing the agency’s mandate and contributing to national development.
The NBMA is responsible for regulating modern biotechnology in Nigeria, ensuring that its application does not pose risks to human health or the environment.
