Panic and tragedy struck Kwara in the dead of night as suspected terrorists stormed a police camp, killing officers and leaving a community in fear.
Suspected terrorists have reportedly carried out a deadly assault on a Police Mobile Force (PMF) camp in Tenebo community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing at least three Mobile Police (MOPOL) officers and injuring two others.
CBI News learnt that the attack reportedly occurred around 3 a.m. on Saturday, when heavily armed gunmen invaded the camp in a coordinated operation, catching security personnel off guard and opening fire.
Residents of the community were thrown into chaos as gunshots rang out across the area, forcing many to flee their homes in fear.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kwara, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, acknowledged the attack but stated that full details are still being compiled.
“I regret to confirm that an attack on the PMF Camp occurred in the early hours of today. I will provide more accurate and detailed information shortly,” she said.
Security sources suggest the attackers were well-organized, raising fresh concerns over rising insecurity in parts of the state.
Authorities are expected to launch a full investigation as efforts intensify to track down those responsible for the deadly raid.
