Nigeria will face Iran on March 27 before taking on Jordan on March 31 in Turkey...
Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, will face Iran and Jordan in international friendlies later this month after organisers moved the matches from Amman due to the tense security situation in the Middle East.
CBI News reports that the fixtures, which were originally scheduled to be played in Amman, have now been relocated to Antalya in Turkey because of concerns over regional instability and movement restrictions.
According to the revised schedule, the Super Eagles will begin the two-match series against Iran on Friday, March 27, before facing Jordan on Tuesday, March 31.
Both games will now take place in the Turkish coastal city of Antalya instead of the Jordanian capital, where they were initially planned.
On the opening day of the friendly series, Iran will meet Nigeria while Jordan will play Costa Rica.
The matches will conclude on March 31 when Nigeria take on Jordan and Iran face Costa Rica.
The games are expected to give the Super Eagles’ coaching staff another opportunity to fine-tune the squad and evaluate players as preparations continue for upcoming international competitions.
Other participating teams Jordan, Iran and Costa Rica are also expected to use the fixtures to strengthen their squads as focus gradually shifts toward preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Although Iran have already secured qualification for the tournament, reports suggest the team could withdraw due to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel and the co-host nation, the United States.
