Attack in East Darfur leaves facility out of service and casualties mounting.
The death toll from a strike on a hospital in East Darfur has risen to 70, the World Health Organization said Tuesday, with injuries increasing to 146.
Hala Khudari described the incident as an “atrocious attack,” noting that those killed include women, children and medical staff, while patients and health workers are among the injured.
The El-Daein Teaching Hospital, which served over two million people, has been severely damaged and is no longer functional, forcing patients to travel long distances for care.
The strike comes amid Sudan’s ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, which has killed tens of thousands and displaced millions since April 2023.
