Andrada gets suspension for punching an opponent on Sunday...
The Spanish Football Federation has handed Esteban Andrada a 13-match ban after the Real Zaragoza goalkeeper punched a SD Huesca player during a second-tier derby.
In a statement, the federation’s disciplinary committee said Andrada was sanctioned for “attacking” Jorge Pulido after being sent off in Sunday’s match.
The Argentine received a 12-match suspension for the punch, with an additional one-match ban following his red card.
The goalkeeper on loan from CF Monterrey, will miss the remainder of the season, dealing a blow to Zaragoza’s efforts to avoid relegation.
Andrada had earlier shoved Pulido and was shown a second yellow card before reacting angrily and striking him, triggering a stoppage-time brawl.
“The truth is I’m very, very sorry for what happened. It’s not a good image for the club, for the fans, and especially not for a professional like myself. So, I’m very sorry,” Andrada said.
Dani Jimenez of Huesca and Zaragoza’s Dani Tasende were also sent off in the aftermath. Jimenez received a four-match ban, while Tasende was suspended for two matches.
Huesca held on to secure a 1-0 victory.
