Guess who’s out on bail? Omoyele Sowore just got a ₦200m lifeline from the Federal High Court — but the judge didn’t make it easy.
Big update from Abuja — and cbinews.tv is on it.
The Federal High Court has just granted bail to Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress presidential candidate and publisher, in his ongoing alleged cybercrime case. Justice Mohammed Umar didn’t just sign off on it though — he set the bail at a hefty ₦200 million.
But here’s where it gets interesting. Sowore isn’t walking free on cash alone. The court wants two sureties. One has to be a traditional ruler from his own community. The other? Someone with landed property right here in Abuja. And the prosecution gets to verify both of them first. No shortcuts.
On top of that, Justice Umar has asked Sowore to hand over his international passport to the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court. That stays with them until the case is sorted.
For now, he’s been released to his lawyers. The next big date is Monday, 6 July, when Sowore’s defence is set to open.
As cbinews.tv reports, this one’s far from over. More to follow.
