More than one million residents displaced by Israeli strike on Lebanon...
Widespread destruction was seen in Beirut's southern suburbs on Tuesday March 24, 2026 following sustained Israeli airstrikes since early March.
Footage showed entire buildings reduced to rubble, alongside others severely damaged or partially destroyed across the area.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the strikes targeted Hezbollah infrastructure in the southern suburbs, a known stronghold of the group.
Residents, rejected that characterisation, they described the bombardment as collective punishment.
The strikes followed evacuation orders issued for several neighbourhoods in the area.
Lebanese authorities said on Monday March 23, 2026 that Israeli attacks killed at least 1,039 people and injured 2,876 since the conflict began on March 2, 2026.
Analysts estimate the war cost Lebanon around $100 million per day.
The escalation comes after Hezbollah entered the conflict in retaliation for the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
