When a global star like Skepta stops the music to speak on Nigeria, you know it’s serious.
British Nigerian heavyweight Skepta isn’t mincing his words about what’s happening back home. In a video message reported by cbinews.tv, the ‘Bad Energy Stay Far Away’ rapper got real about the state of things in Nigeria, saying “there is so much injustice going on.”
Skepta, born Joseph Adenuga, made a heartfelt appeal to fellow celebs and the international community. His message? Nigerians are tough and resilient — we always make things look good — but right now, they need people to speak up and help shine a global spotlight on the injustices happening day-to-day.
“Whenever I can, whether it’s at my shows, verbally or with images, whatever I can do, we are going to speak up for injustice at all times,” he said. “Nigerians need help. We need people to speak up for us as well. We need to protect Nigerians.”
It’s not the first time Skepta’s used his platform for Nigeria, but his tone here was urgent. He’s basically saying: don’t get it twisted by the resilience. People are suffering, and it’s been going on for too long.
