Their resignation comes amid defection speculations.
The Adamawa State House of Assembly has formally received notification of the resignation of six of its members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in a development that could signal a major political realignment in the state.
CBI News reports that those who tendered their resignation from the PDP include the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Mohammed Buba Jidjiwa, representing Jada/Mbulo Constituency; Hon. Kefas Kalvin of Toungo Constituency; Hon. Bulus Geoffrey of Leko/Koma Constituency; Hon. Haruna Jilantikiri of Madagali Constituency; Hon. Kefas Emmanuel of Song Constituency; and Hon. Ahmed Jingi Bele of Maiha Constituency.
The mass resignation has intensified political tension and speculation across Adamawa State, as observers link the move to reports that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri may be considering a defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Unconfirmed reports indicate that as many as 16 members of the Assembly, alongside party executives and key stakeholders within the Adamawa PDP structure and the current administration, could align with the governor should he officially make the move.
Political analysts say the unfolding events may significantly reshape the balance of power in Adamawa State, potentially altering party dominance ahead of future electoral contests.
As of press time, neither the governor nor the affected lawmakers have publicly stated their next political destination, but the development signals what could be one of the most consequential political shifts in the state in recent years.
