Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected in Gusau to formally welcome Governor Dauda Lawal into the APC..
Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to formally receive Dauda Lawal into the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday in Gusau, Zamfara State.
The Zamfara APC Chairman, Tukur Maikatako, disclosed this during a meeting with party stakeholders, noting that the vice president would lead the party’s national leadership to officially welcome the governor back into its fold.
CBI News reports that Maikatako described the move as a step towards strengthening unity and inclusiveness within the party in the state. He emphasised that Lawal’s return signals the APC’s openness to members committed to governance and development.
“This visit is an opportunity to welcome back a former APC member who has returned to the fold. Our goal is to consolidate the party’s strength in Zamfara and ensure that all members work together for the progress of the state and Nigeria,” he said.
He urged party members across the 14 local government areas and 147 wards in the state to turn out in large numbers for the event, describing it as significant for boosting the APC’s popularity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Maikatako also called on members to set aside internal differences and prioritise collective goals, stressing that unity within the party would enhance its electoral performance.
According to him, the APC remains focused on promoting prosperity in Zamfara and contributing to national development, encouraging members to actively engage their communities in strengthening the party’s base.
