Comedian denies allegations from two women in London dating back to 2009.
British comedian and actor Russell Brand pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to two new charges of rape and sexual assault at a London court.
Brand, who has transformed from a left-leaning political campaigner to a conservative social media figure, arrived at Southwark Crown Court carrying a Bible. He wore a leopard-print shirt and dark coat.
He denied sexually assaulting a woman in London in 2009 and raping another woman in the same year, also in the capital. His bail was renewed, and he is due to face trial in June.
The 50-year-old faces sexual offence charges involving six women in total, according to UK police.
CBI News reports that the previously pleaded not guilty in May to five other charges related to four women, including rape, oral rape, sexual assault, and indecent assault between 1999 and 2005.
London’s Metropolitan Police said the new charges involve two additional women and are in addition to the April 2025 charges concerning four women.
Born in 1975 in Essex, Brand began performing stand-up as a teenager and later became an MTV presenter and reality TV host.
He presented a BBC Radio 2 show between 2006 and 2008 but quit after leaving a sexually explicit voicemail for actor Andrew Sachs about his granddaughter.
