San Siro, get ready for a Portuguese reset. Milan have picked their man.
Well, it looks like the Rossoneri have finally landed on a favourite. After weeks of names flying about in Italy, AC Milan have reached an agreement with Ruben Amorim to take over as head coach.
The 41-year-old is ready to say yes to a two-year deal at San Siro, with an option for a third season tucked in. Word is the package is worth around €3.5m to €4m per season, plus tidy bonuses if he delivers silverware or drags Milan back into the Champions League.
It is a quick turnaround for Amorim too. You will remember him from Sporting CP, then that bruising 14-month spell at Manchester United that ended when he was sacked in January 2026.
Milan have been hunting since they parted ways with Massimiliano Allegri at the end of a frustrating 2025-26 campaign, the one where they missed out on Champions League qualification. They spoke to Oliver Glasner and Mauricio Pochettino, but Amorim kept coming out on top in the meetings.
Nothing is signed just yet, the club are still waiting to give the final green light, but Amorim has told them he wants the job and will accept the conditions on the table.
If it goes through, it is a proper rebuild job. Fifth place, no Champions League music next season, and a squad that needs a clear identity. Amorim's high-pressing 3-4-3 could be exactly the shake-up Milan fans have been crying out for.
Watch this space. San Siro loves a drama, and this one feels like it is about to get official.
