Thousands of Rivers State civil servants could soon move up the ladder as Governor Siminalayi Fubara gives the green light for a new round of promotions across ministries and agencies.
Good news for civil servants in Rivers State!
Governor Siminalayi Fubara has approved the promotion of eligible workers across the state civil service, with Ministries, Departments and Agencies now directed to submit names of qualified officers for consideration.
According to a circular obtained by cbinews.tv and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission, James Enebeli, the promotion exercise will cover officers on Grade Levels 07 to 15 who became due between January and July 2026.
The commission also made it clear that officers who have retired, applied for retirement, or are currently facing disciplinary action will not be considered.
MDAs have been asked to submit both hard and soft copies of recommendations, including service records and scored APER forms, before the May 31, 2026 deadline. Soft copies must be submitted in Microsoft Excel format using USB flash drives properly labelled with ministry names.
cbinews.tv reports that permanent secretaries and heads of extra-ministerial departments are expected to personally sign recommendation letters sent to the commission.
The commission also urged ministries to immediately begin internal promotion processes for junior officers, warning that late submissions will not be entertained.
The exercise, approved by Governor Fubara, is aimed at enabling promotion interviews for qualified officers within the 2025/2026 promotion window.
