The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to begin in spectacular fashion as FIFA unveils three massive opening ceremonies across Mexico, Canada, and the United States — featuring global music stars including Nigerian sensation Rema, Katy Perry, J Balvin, Tyla, Future, and more.
CBI News reports that FIFA confirmed that each host nation will stage its own unique opening celebration, turning the tournament kickoff into a global fusion of music, culture, and football.
Mexico will launch the festivities on June 11 at the iconic Azteca Stadium in Mexico City ahead of the opening match between Mexico and South Africa. The ceremony will feature Colombian superstar J Balvin, legendary Mexican rock band Mana, Alejandro Fernandez, Belinda, Lila Downs, Tyla, and Los Angeles Azules.
Canada’s celebration follows on June 12 in Toronto before the hosts face Bosnia and Herzegovina, with performances lined up from Alanis Morissette, Michael Bublé, Alessia Cara, Jessie Reyez, Nora Fatehi, and others.
Later that same day, the United States will host another blockbuster ceremony in Los Angeles ahead of their clash against Paraguay. Pop icon Katy Perry, rapper Future, Blackpink’s Lisa, Brazilian star Anitta, Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema, and Tyla are all expected to perform.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the ceremonies as a “powerful way to begin a truly global celebration,” highlighting the unity and cultural diversity of the tournament.
