Elena Rybakina has knocked out Emma Raducanu from the US open.
Emma Raducanu’s US Open run ended in the third round after a ruthless defeat to fellow Grand Slam champion Elena Rybakina.
The 22-year-old Briton, seeking a statement victory to highlight her progress, was overpowered in a 6-1, 6-2 loss.
Ninth seed Rybakina dismantled Raducanu’s serve, breaking four times and dictating the rallies with relentless precision.
A shaky opening game, where she was broken immediately after slipping 0-40 down, set the tone.
Struggling to find belief, Raducanu never recovered and fell in just 62 minutes.
CBI News reports that the 2021 US Open champion has now managed only three wins in 18 matches against top-10 opponents.
She was also the last British woman standing in singles, leaving Cameron Norrie as the country’s sole representative in the men’s draw.
