Police say it arrested man in 60s amid renewed probe into Epstein ties...
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
CBI News reports that this marks a dramatic development in the long-running scrutiny surrounding his links to the late convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.
Thames Valley Police, on Thursday, confirmed that a man in his sixties from Norfolk had been arrested and remains in custody while investigations continue.
According to the BBC, officers are carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk linked to Mountbatten-Windsor, who previously held the title Duke of York.
Police cars were earlier seen at his residence on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, with photographs showing officers near the property.
In a statement, police said: “As part of the investigation, we have today (19/2) arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office and are carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk. The man remains in police custody at this time.
"We will not be naming the arrested man, as per national guidance. Please also remember that this case is now active so care should be taken with any publication to avoid being in contempt of court.”
Authorities stressed that the suspect would not be publicly identified in line with national guidance and cautioned media organisations against reporting that could prejudice ongoing proceedings.
