Presley Gerber, model and son of supermodel Cindy Crawford, has died aged 27. Records filed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner show he died on Sunday, September 20, at a rehab facility. Cause of death was not listed.
Presley grew up right in the fashion spotlight. Son of Cindy and well-known businessman Rande Gerber, who co-founded Casamigos tequila with George Clooney, and the older brother to Kaia Gerber. He made his catwalk debut for Moschino aged just 16 and went on to model for Burberry, Dolce and Gabbana, Bottega Veneta and Calvin Klein, where he appeared alongside Kaia in 2018. He also starred with his mum in a Pepsi Super Bowl ad in 2018, 26 years after her iconic 1992 spot. In July, Cindy shared childhood photos for his 27th birthday, writing she was proud of the man he had become but would always see him as her little boy.
In recent years, Presley had been open about his struggles. In 2023, he told the Studio 22 podcast: "Having struggled with mental health, depression and some other things that come along with that, I think that whether I help one person or a hundred people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that is all I need to do."
His sister Kaia spoke about it in this month's American Vogue, saying addiction had levelled the family, that she had started to see herself as the easy one who never wanted to ask for help, and that her parents, who had been very private for most of their lives, now had a teacher in Presley who chose to be very human for everyone. He had Kaia's name tattooed on his arm and often said they were tight; travelling together made it less lonely.
This is more than a celebrity headline. It shines a light on mental health pressure on second-generation stars and on young men in fashion, a world where anxiety and depression rates are high, and help-seeking can feel hard. When someone with a platform speaks openly, it helps others feel less alone.
