Portable Apologises After Walkout in Okocha Boxing Rematch

It was meant to be the ultimate celebrity grudge match, but it ended in pure chaos, and now Portable is saying sorry.
Well, what a night!
Street-pop favourite Habeeb Okikiola, aka Portable, has finally broken his silence and apologised to fans after that messy, much-talked-about celebrity boxing rematch with Nollywood star Charles Okocha.
If you missed it, Portable walked out of the ring before the end of Round 1 on Friday night, only to return moments later, but it was too late. Officials had already disqualified him and handed the win to Okocha.
In a statement released on Saturday through his management, Zeh Nation/Dr Zeh, the Zazu crooner owned up to the disappointment.
“We sincerely apologise to the organisers, Balmoral Group, the entire event team, our fans, friends, family, and everyone who came out to support Portable at tonight's celebrity boxing event,” the statement read.
His team admitted fans were left gutted by the abrupt ending, but begged Nigerians to see things from his side.
“We understand the disappointment caused by the outcome of the fight and by Portable's decision to step away after the first round. While emotions can run high in moments like these, we respectfully ask everyone to respect his decision and perspective.”
They added: “On behalf of Portable's management, we take full responsibility for the disappointment this may have caused. We remain grateful for the unwavering love and support shown to him throughout this journey.”
The management also gave a special shout-out to the organisers for putting together what was still a big show.
“We appreciate Balmoral Group and everyone involved for putting together a great event, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
And for fans wondering what's next? They promised lessons have been learnt.
“We have taken note of the feedback, and we are committed to learning from this experience. We promise to come back stronger and do better next time.”
Of course, Portable had earlier claimed he stormed out because the fight turned into wrestling, alleging Okocha bit and choked him. Still, the apology seems to be his way of drawing a line under the drama.
