The address forms part of Pope Leo XIV's four-day visit to Cameroon, the second leg of his broader African apostolic journey.
Pope Leo XIV has called on Cameroon's authorities to examine their "conscience" and break "the chains of corruption" during the first day of his apostolic visit to the country.
Speaking to political leaders, civil society groups, and diplomats in Yaoundé, the Pope emphasised the need for integrity, justice, and service to the common good.
"It is time to examine our conscience and take a bold leap forward," he said, urging leaders to tackle corruption, promote human rights, and foster peace both within Cameroon and with neighboring nations.
CBI News reports that the Pontiff stressed that true governance requires "a clear mind and an upright conscience," applying the commandment to "love your neighbor as yourself" even in international relations.
