The Nigeria Police Force has raised the alarm over a questionable “AFRIPOL 2026” programme making the rounds online, warning Nigerians and corporate organisations to steer clear of it.
The Nigeria Police Force has disowned a purported “AFRIPOL 2026” programme currently circulating online, describing it as unauthorised and misleading, cbinews.tv reports.
In a statement issued from the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, clarified that the NPF neither approved nor endorsed the programme in any form.
According to the police, the use of the name “AFRIPOL” is also questionable, as it officially refers to the African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation — a recognised continental policing body under the African Union framework, not a platform for private events or programmes.
The Force further revealed that the organisers had no permission to use the image of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, the official Nigeria Police logo, or any identity linked to the Force.
“The Nigeria Police Force wishes to state categorically that it did not approve, endorse, or authorise the purported ‘AFRIPOL 2026’ programme currently being circulated online,” the statement noted.
Police authorities have now advised members of the public, business organisations, and potential sponsors to ignore the publication and avoid making payments, sponsorships, or any form of engagement connected to the event.
