As Nigeria's President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu prepares for an upcoming visit to Kigali Rwanda, for international engagements, Mixed reactions have started to trail his visit by Plateau residents, with many expressing concern over the timing of the trip amid lingering insecurity in the country.
CBI News reports that the planned visit, linked to high-level engagements such as the Africa CEO Forum, has sparked debate among residents who believe the president’s attention is urgently needed looking at the situation of the country.
Pius Mandung a businessman says the visit is important, but how much will be spent and what benefits will it bring to the common Nigerian, while Feyisola Abiola a Fashion Designer question the purpose for the visit as trillions of naira is being spent, calling on the president to invest in youth for positive results.
However, Hussaini Ahmed a civil servant kicked against the presidents proposed trip, saying that he should rather invest the money for the country citing example on how education become unaffordable.
Also, Plangnan Joseph a Fashion Designer and Bashiru Muhammad a resident also reiterate on the need of using the money being spent to support the economy in Nigeria so that it will strengthen the youths in addressing unemployment, while Kabiru Muhammad called on the president to do the right thing as he will be held accountable for anything he does, giving examples of the previous governments.
“Am calling on the president that he will be held accountable for any misconduct, were is Abiola were is Yar'Adua were is Goodluck Jonathan were is General .”
As the president’s Kigali visit approaches, Pius Mandung see the money being squandered as a selfish interest by denying a common man,while Feyisola Abiola highlights that instead of spending trillions he needs to focus on investing on youths and tackling insecurity in Plateau state.
