From academy boy to main man, Phil Foden isn't going anywhere. Manchester City have tied down their homegrown star until 2030.
Big news coming out of the Etihad!
Manchester City have confirmed that Phil Foden has put pen to paper on a brand new long-term contract that will keep him at the club until 2030, as reported by cbinewstv.
The 26-year-old midfielder was heading into the final year of his previous deal, which was set to expire next summer, but City have moved swiftly to secure his future. It is a huge statement from the Premier League champions as they continue to build around their core stars.
For Foden, it is more than just a contract. The Stockport-born playmaker came through City's academy and has grown into one of the most important players in the squad since making his senior debut.
The England international has already won it all at club level, playing a key role in City's era of domestic dominance and historic triumphs.
Interestingly, the new deal comes just weeks after his shock omission from England's squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Head coach Thomas Tuchel left him out of the final selection, a decision that raised eyebrows. According to reports, it was not down to injury but rather form, tactics and squad balance, with Tuchel insisting he had to pick players who suited his system.
Foden himself says he is living his childhood dream.
Speaking after signing, he said: “Committing my future to City means everything to me. Playing for this Club is all I’ve ever wanted to do, and it’s always an honour to wear the shirt.
“It’s not lost on me that I’ve been lucky enough to be part of a historic period with so many titles won, but we’re always looking to the future and trying to win more.
“I can’t wait to work with Enzo again. He was brilliant during the Treble season – someone all the players respected and loved working with. To have him back here is exciting.”
With his future now sorted, Foden can focus on what he does best, delivering for City for years to come.
