Oseloka Obi, son of Labour Party presidential candidate and former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has reacted to social media controversies linking his private life to politics.

He described them as deliberate distractions from Nigeria’s pressing problems, CBI News notes.

In a statement released on Friday, Oseloka dismissed the circulation of personal photos and narratives about him. He insisted they were ordinary and deliberately twisted to mislead the public.

He noted that he is not active on social media and that many of the stories associated with him are fabrications aimed at discrediting his father.

“I have never lived a life of scandal. I am an actor and filmmaker, not a politician. It is unfortunate that some people take my creative roles and repackage them into political lies,” he said.

Oseloka emphasized that his father raised him with values of integrity, hard work and honesty, which he has carried into his career.

He added that his support for Peter Obi is not based on family ties but on a belief in his leadership qualities.

He further urged Nigerians to pay less attention to gossip and focus instead on the country’s major challenges, including insecurity, economic hardship, corruption, and failing healthcare and education systems.

“This pettiness does not move Nigeria forward. These are distractions. We will go high while others spread falsehoods,” he stated.
