Forest become the first club in Premier League history to complete a season with four different permanent managers..
Nottingham Forest have appointed Portuguese coach Vitor Pereira on an 18-month contract, the Premier League club said.
The appointment makes him their fourth permanent manager of the 2025/26 campaign.
The 57-year-old replaces Sean Dyche, who was sacked on Thursday with Forest 17th in the standings, three points above the relegation zone after two wins in their last 10 league matches.
Pereira’s first game in charge will be Thursday’s Europa League knockout round play-off first leg against his former club Fenerbahce in Turkey. Forest then host Liverpool in the Premier League on Feb. 22.
Forest’s decision means they will become the first club in Premier League history to complete a season with four different permanent managers.
Pereira returns to English football after being dismissed by Wolverhampton Wanderers in November following an 11-month spell. He won 14 of 38 matches in charge and helped Wolves avoid relegation last season.
He has previously worked under Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis at Olympiacos, guiding the Greek side to the league title and domestic cup in the 2014-15 season before moving to Fenerbahce.
Pereira began his managerial career at Portuguese club Sanjoanense in 2004 and has since coached in Germany, China, Brazil and Saudi Arabia. Forest will mark his 15th managerial role.
He succeeds Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Dyche at the City Ground since September.
Nuno was dismissed three games into the season despite having guided Forest to a seventh-place finish and European qualification last term. Postecoglou lasted 39 days, failing to win any of his eight league matches, while Dyche initially oversaw seven victories in his first 12 games before a downturn in form left the club hovering above the drop zone.
Forest struggled for goals under Dyche, who was without striker Chris Wood due to a knee injury. In a recent goalless draw with Wolves, Forest registered 35 shots without scoring.
During Dyche’s 114-day tenure, Forest attempted 241 shots — ninth-most in the league — but their conversion rate of 8.3% was the third worst in the division.
