Got missing relatives? Oyo State just dropped a 7-day countdown, and it’s serious.
Right, here’s the gist from cbinews.tv — the Oyo State Government isn’t playing around.
They’ve just slapped a 7-day ultimatum on families to come forward and claim bodies currently lying in public hospital mortuaries across the state. After that? Mass burial for all unclaimed corpses.
According to a statement signed by the Health Commissioner, Dr Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, mortuaries are bursting at the seams. Turns out the Nigeria Police Force, FRSC, Nigerian Correctional Service and other agencies have been dropping off bodies, and loads have stayed unclaimed for ages. The result: serious congestion, with some mortuaries now completely maxed out.
So, if you’ve got a missing relative, the Commissioner is urging you to pop into the relevant public hospital mortuaries ASAP to identify and claim them.
Plans are already being finalised for a mass burial, which will go ahead exactly 7 days from today, 22nd June 2026. That window is basically a last call for families and next of kin to step up before the state proceeds.
Dr Ajetunmobi stressed this is all about keeping health facilities running smoothly and maintaining public health standards across Oyo.
The announcement was e-signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade, Hon. Commissioner for Information, Oyo State.
