Justice has finally started to land for the victims of that horrific Sunday morning in Owo. Three years on, four men have been found guilty of the brutal 2022 church attack.
Some breaking news from the Federal High Court in Abuja, via cbinews.tv — four men have just been convicted over the devastating attack on Saint Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State.
You'll remember the horror of it. Back on 5th June 2022, gunmen stormed the church during mass, and 43 worshippers lost their lives. It was one of the darkest days Ondo State has ever seen.
Well, the Department of State Services put five men on trial for allegedly being behind it. The court has now found four of them guilty: Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza, 25, Al Qasim Idris, 20, Jamiu Abdulmalik, 26, and Abdulhaleem Idris, 25.
The fifth man, 47-year-old Momoh Otuho Abubakar, was discharged and acquitted.
According to cbinews.tv, the DSS charged the men on nine counts of terrorism, accusing them of being members of foreign terror groups and directly responsible for the Owo massacre. Justice Emeka Nwite has pronounced them guilty, though the judgment is still ongoing.
