It’s election day in Osun State, and voters in Ikire are already making their way to polling units to cast their ballots.

Early voting got underway at several polling units visited by CBI News TV, with election officials arriving early and making preparations for the exercise.

Security operatives were also on the ground, maintaining a visible presence as voters gathered to participate in the governorship election.

But while many voters were able to find their names on the register and proceed with voting, one voter had a different experience.

Sola Akinbami said she was unable to find her name on the voters’ register at her polling unit.

Speaking in Yoruba, she said:

“I’ve gone to check my name, and it’s not there. I don’t know why.”

Despite the setback, other voters successfully located their names and continued with the voting process.

The polling units also became busy spots for local food vendors, with traders selling food and refreshments to voters and others at the locations.

Among those turning up early were elderly women, who joined other residents to exercise their right to vote.

The early turnout in Ikire is part of wider voting activity across Osun State, as residents head to the polls to elect their next governor.

Security agencies have also been deployed across the state as authorities work to maintain order during the exercise.
