It was all action in Osogbo on Thursday, as former Osun State Governor and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Rauf Aregbesola, took his campaign directly to the traders at the popular Orisumbare Market.

According to cbinews.tv, Aregbesola, who spoke in Yoruba, started with an apology. He said sorry for showing up late during his visit on Wednesday, which meant he could not properly address the traders.

This time, he made it count. He was there to formally introduce the ADC and to ask for their full backing for the party’s governorship candidate, Najeem Salam, popularly known as Iwaloye, in this Saturday’s August 16 governorship election.

Aregbesola did not mince words about his candidate. He described Salam as the man with the capacity to tackle the challenges facing residents and ensure every part of the state is carried along in governance.

In a clear break from his past, the former governor also distanced himself from his former political party, saying it is no longer a platform he can identify with.
