The acting chairman of the Osun State NURTW, Kazeem Oyewale, popularly known as Asiri Eniba, has denied allegations linking him to an alleged assassination attempt on Governor Ademola Adeleke’s son, B-Red, describing the claims as false and politically motivated.
According to reports monitored by CBI News TV, the acting chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Osun State, Kazeem Oyewale, has refuted allegations that he plotted to kill Adebayo Adeleke, popularly known as B-Red, son of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The allegations were contained in a statement issued by the Osun State Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, who claimed that B-Red narrowly escaped an assassination attempt allegedly carried out by hoodlums linked to Oyewale, also known as Asiri Eniba.
Alimi stated that the incident reportedly occurred around the Oke-Fia area, close to the Osun Government House.
Reacting during an interview with journalists in Osogbo on Monday, Oyewale denied any involvement in the alleged attack and accused the Osun State Government of spreading false accusations against him.
The APC chieftain also threatened legal action while calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to provide protection for him and his supporters against what he described as continuous harassment and intimidation.
“I want to call the attention of President Bola Tinubu, the IGP, and Nigerians to my situation. The governor and the Commissioner for Information have called for my arrest over allegations that are completely false,” Oyewale said.
He further alleged that political opponents had targeted him since the 2022 election cycle, claiming that his younger brother was killed in November 2022 and that the family had yet to recover the corpse.
Oyewale also dismissed allegations linking him to the destruction of campaign billboards, insisting he had no connection with the incidents being attributed to him.
He urged his supporters not to panic, alleging that indiscriminate arrests of NURTW members were used as political tactics in the past and warning against a repeat of such actions.
