Osun 2026 Result: INEC Declares Ademola Adeleke Winner for Second Term

It's official! Osun State has spoken, and Governor Ademola Adeleke is staying put.
Well, what a night it was in Osogbo!
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Governor Ademola Adeleke the winner of the Osun State governorship election held on Saturday.
Announcing the results at about 7:24 am on Sunday, the State Returning Officer, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, said Adeleke won big with 511,067 votes.
The Governor, who contested this time on the platform of the Accord, floored his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who polled 444,815 votes.
It was quite the sweep. Adeleke claimed victory in 19 out of the 30 Local Government Areas - including Ede North, Ede South, Ejigbo, Iwo, Osogbo, Ife Central, Ife East and Ife North, amongst others. Oyebamiji managed to take 11 LGAs, including Olorunda, Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun and Obokun.
Giving a breakdown, Ogunwole said total accredited voters were 1,010,684, total valid votes were 985,079, rejected votes were 207, and total votes cast were 1,005,800.
"That Ademola Nurudeen-Jackson Adeleke having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner of the August 15 Governorship election and returned elected," Ogunwole declared after party agents signed the result sheet.
The candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Najeem Salaam, came in third.
