It's happening! The numbers are starting to trickle in from Osun.
If you've been glued to your screen all day waiting for the Osun governorship poll, here's the moment we've been waiting for — INEC has officially begun uploading results to its IReV portal.
According to monitoring by cbinews.tv, voting wrapped up at most polling units after the 2:30 p.m. cut-off set by the Commission, and officials immediately began the electronic transmission process.
As of 4:43 p.m. today, 15th August 2026, a total of 849 out of 3,763 polling unit results have been uploaded — that's 22.56% of all expected results. You can literally watch it climb in real-time on the portal.
For anyone new to this, the IReV — INEC Result Viewing portal — is the game-changer INEC introduced back in 2020 to let all of us — voters, parties, observers — see the polling unit result sheet (Form EC8A) straight from the source. No more waiting till the early hours for collation.
Why today's upload matters:
This is more than just numbers. Osun has always been one of Nigeria's most fiercely contested battlegrounds. Remember 2018? It went all the way to a supplementary election between Gboyega Oyetola and Senator Ademola Adeleke. Then 2022 flipped the script, with Adeleke's famous "Imole" victory unseating the incumbent — the first time Osun had done that in its recent history.
With 3,763 polling units spread across 30 Local Government Areas and a voter register of over 1.9 million people, every single upload counts for transparency. After the technical glitches that plagued IReV during the 2023 general elections, many Nigerians will be watching this Osun poll as a litmus test for INEC's preparedness ahead of 2027.
Collation is now underway at ward and LGA levels, but if you want to play citizen observer, the IReV portal is live.
We’ll keep tracking the percentages as they jump.
