Ondo has a new top civil servant, and he’s a home-grown technocrat with 30 years in the system.
Big shake-up in Akure.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has named Chief Segun Odusanya as the new Head of the Ondo State Public Service. The appointment takes effect from tomorrow, 6 June 2026, cbinewstv reports.
It follows the retirement of the outgoing HoS, Mr Bayo Philips. In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor thanked Philips for his dedication and wished him well in his future endeavours.
Aiyedatiwa didn’t waste time setting the tone for the new man. He charged Odusanya to bring his wealth of experience to bear in driving the administration’s “OUR EASE” agenda and in strengthening the state’s civil service.
So, who is the new HoS?
Chief Odusanya, born 6 February 1967, is a proper Ondo product. He started at St. Peter’s Primary School, Ile-Oluji, went on to Gboluji Anglican Grammar School (1972–1983), then bagged a Bachelors in Agriculture from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, in 1989. He added a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management Studies from OAU in 1992, and later an MBA from the University of Ado-Ekiti in 2000.
He joined the Ondo State Public Service back in September 1995 and climbed steadily to Permanent Secretary in 2019. Along the way, he’s done tours in Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Civil Service Commission, Transport, and most recently Agriculture and Forestry.
Until this appointment, he was also Chairman of the Forum of Permanent Secretaries in Ondo — so he already knows the engine room inside out.
